Three Ideas for 2000 Summative Essay (updated with mind maps)



For the new contexts brief, I have been given a task of developing a 2000 word essay. I am required that put forth theoretical ideas in this work that I am able to succinctly and concisely analyse and examine. Below are three possible ideas I have chosen to develop and research for the purposes of producing a high-quality, academic essay. 

1. The Decline of Hand-Drawn Animation in Film
It seems that with Disney's Second Renaissance, they have decidedly moved away from the confines hand-drawn, traditional animation and have taken to investing (and succeeding) in the world of 3D computer generated motion pictures. This practice seems to have spread to other mainstream institutions as well.










2. The Noir of Blade Runner (1982) and Altered Carbon (2018)
How does Ridley Scott's Blade Runner (1982) and Netflix's Altered Carbon (2018) handle its Neo-Noir genre and how does it compare to the classic film noir? What are the differences and similarities between the two?







3. The Evolution of Disney's Princesses 
How have Disney's Princesses developed in their popular animated features? From the passive roles of Rose in 1959's Sleeping Beauty to the more active Elsa of 2013's Frozen, they have evolved considerably over the long decades.

Major Project - Reflective Statement

  I think this is one of the toughest projects I have ever undertaken in my time in education. I have felt both scared and stressed out believing I will fail this whole course if I even remotely submitted anything subpar and thus fail at having a career in animation. Not helping was the Covid pandemic which has greatly affected the university, my mental health, my course, my family, among much more. While I think I am likely to pass the course now that I have submitted all the necessary components for my major project, needless to say there is quite a bit I wish I could have done better. The reason I believe for a lot of this was simply time. Some was out of my control other times I feel I could have done something to help myself give a better outcome of the project. I cannot help but feel that while it could've gone a lot worse my project could've been a lot better if I had a bit more time such as having better time management and stopping myself from procrastinating as often.
