Reworked Final Rendered Scene 2

Image

Reworked Final Scene

Image
Reworked final scene with coloured lighting, fitting the pink sky of the matte painting.

Reworked Matte Painting 2 and GIF

Image
I reworked my matte painting to better fit my the art style of my set and my chosen artist - Sheila Hicks.

Alternate City Sets

Image
As per my digital set pipeline I have experimented with different shaders and textures applied to my city and its models. Wireframe Set Untextured Set Ambient Occlusion Set UCA UV Grid

Final Rendered Scene

Image
Final Rendered with textures, bump maps and matte painting. One difference from my final concept painting and the final render is the exclusion of the wooden poles and tiki-torches as light sources. I decided to neglect them as i felt they may ruin the interesting lighting of the scene as well making the composition less visually appealing a overly cluttered.

Updated GIF sequence of matte painting buildup

Updated matte painting (updated)

Updated matte painting with buildings to make my city appear my clustered and crowded - more like  an actually city than a distant village.

Matte Painting GIF

GIF showing the development of my Matte Painting.

Matte Painting

Image
Painting showing a exotic pink sky with lush, vivid vegetation sprawling across tall hills.

Experimental Shot

Image
Experimental shot. My plan is to make the lighting less intense and the a different colour to fit what will be my matte painting in the background. Also, any final tweaks to my models and/or composition.

Completed Hero Building

My fully modeled hero building.

Small hut model progress

Image
The glossy shader was used to experiment with lighting as well as a place holder when rendering. The actual texture will be less reflective since the buildings are made of rugged wood.

Reworked Wooden Beam

Image
I decided to make the support beam appear to made out of an exotic wood rather than bamboo to make fit in better with where my city is described.  Texture and bump map made in Photoshop.

Reworked Door

Image
Reworked door with the larger model having a bump map. I made the frame much larger so it could fit onto the models of buildings better.

City Statue

Image
Model for the statue that will be present in the center of my city. The textures and bump map were created in Photoshop. Bump maps worked via grey scale, so lighter colours increased the height of bumps and ridges while darker colours increased the depth of grooves and indents.  Detail on the statue. I imagined my city to be in a tropical environment, so I wanted to suggest erosion from years of being exposed to the elements.

Window, door and cover modeled with bump maps

How the Support Beams are modeled

Image
Using the CV Curve tool I was able to create a line that I could modify the length. I then created a cylinder and placed it under the line. I selected both the cylinder and line I extruded the former, allowing me to modify the divisions and create a bent support beam, The cylinders radius was decreased to fit the depiction of the orthographs. Using the Duplicate Special tool I was able to neatly plant the beams around the main geometry.

Textured Model for the bamboo support beams I will use frequently in my scene. The UVs and custom textures. The latter was created in Photoshop.
