The sounds heard in this video include ambient sounds of footsteps, my custom instrument, rubbing my shoe against a metal sign, tapping a metal sign, among others.
The task set for us in this session was to edit and manipulate existing to create something unique. I managed to turn soft, comforting classical music in to a loud, rigorous, electronic rhythm .
I decided to create the art style for the characters and environments based on cartoons from the 1960s and even earlier to give a distinct look, feel and aesthetic. It allows for a certain personality for the characters and the world.
1960s Apartment blocks and upper class flats I took inspiration from. The props I imagined would belong in the Lepidopterists apartment, including butterfly taxidermy and lamp designs from the 1960s.
The Apartment Building where Mr. Herman, the Lepidopterist lives. The building is planned to appear in my opening establishing shot. A false room has been created so to provide a sense of continuity as the rest of the pre-viz will take place in a different scene altogether. The False room.
